Stage 1: From Aumont-Aubrac to La Baume
First step in roaming around the Monts d'Aubrac, this hike is a wonderful introduction to the landscapes of eastern Aubrac. From the Aumont-Aubrac basin, the route rises slowly towards the Aubrac plateau in a hilly atmosphere. Border the wooded areas of spruces, Scots pines and even birches while admiring the numerous views of the Margeride and its ocean of wooded hills.

Step 2: From La Baume to Bonnecombe
Through woods and summer pastures, this second stage of the Tour des Monts d'Aubrac transports you to the southern plateau and the Monts de l'Aubrac. From forest paths to large expanses of the summit plateau, enjoy remarkable viewpoints and varied atmospheres (villages, meadows and forests) throughout the route.

Stage 3: From Bonnecombe to Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac
From drailles to Roman roads, a panoramic and forested stage between summer pastures and boraldes Bordering the plateau and the Aubrac mountains from the south, then plunging into the wooded valleys of the boraldes, this stage is an invitation to the (re)discovery of the history of Aubrac. A volcanic vestige with reliefs softened by the long working of the ice, land traveled by the Romans and an agricultural mecca, explore a country steeped in history and constantly evolving.

Stage 4: From Saint-Chély-d’Aubrac to Laguiole
From ridges to boraldes, a forest route on the south-western foothills of the Monts d'Aubrac, between the Aubrac and Viadène plateau. An arduous climb to get the ball rolling and reach the plateau with its distant perspectives. The valleys formed by the boraldes and punctuated by beech forests follow one another up to the town of Laguiole.

Stage 5: From Laguiole to Saint-Urcize
A stop on the high plateau for a breath of fresh air from Aubrac.
Leave Laguiole to reach the high plateau of Aubrac after passing through the Laguiole beech forest and the prospect of arrival at Saint-Urcize nestled in the Hère valley.

Stage 6: From Saint-Urcize to La Chaldette
A short stop on the expanses of the Aubrac high plateau. A passage through the Bès valley with the town of Recoules-d'Aubrac, followed by a succession of hills up to the village of La Chaldette.

Step 7: From Chaldette to Terms
A long stage to discover another face of Aubrac, more forested, stretching towards Caldaguès and Cantal. After a climb towards the Roc du Cheylaret, enjoy a pleasant passage in the woods of the North of Aubrac. Between clearings and gaps, let yourself be carried away by the views of the Cantal mountains. From Fournels to Termes, a final short climb around Mont Alhérac will end the stage.

Step 8: From Termes to Aumont-Aubrac
A final crossing of the wooded part of the Aubrac plateau to reach Aumont-Aubrac, at the gates of Margeride.
From Terme the climb begins gently to reach Mont Alhérac, then the Truc de l'Homme. The gaps between the woods open up perspectives sometimes on the Aubrac, sometimes on the Margeride, or even the Cantal mountains. A stopover that is as intimate as it is open to large landscapes.
