From the village of Thérondels, very close to the Monts du Cantal, an easy approach to the wild gorges of the Truyère and the lake of Sarrans, with quite exceptional viewpoints.

Getting to the starting point to report a problem

Step 1

From the town hall of Thérondels, reach the place des tilleuls take the D 18 towards Brommat for 600 m (road lined with lime trees).

Step 2

At the first intersection (at the TV relay station), leave the imaginary path on the right “and the peasant created the meadow”. Continue on the left by the small path which descends towards the D 139. Cross the D 139 and take the path opposite which descends on the edge and goes up towards the D 139. Follow it to the left towards Jou.

Step 3

In the hamlet, leave the road and take the path on the left at the level of the farrier's work. Come out onto the D 98 at the level of the small road to La Borie, cross it (viewpoint over the reservoir and the peninsula), round the bend. Take the road down again, turn left and reach the crossroads at the entrance to the peninsula.

Step 4

Go around the peninsula (swimming possible, supervised from mid-July to the end of August) and return to the D 537, car park side. Cross the D 537 and follow the parallel path to the Devèze bridge.

Step 5

Do not cross the bridge, but turn left on the forest track which climbs towards the plateau and arrives near Banes.

Step 6

Opportunity to see the Estradié bridge, make a round trip (former crossing point between Cantal and Aveyron). In the climb turn left and come out on the road. Cross and turn right on the paved path which cuts a bend in the road. Take it to the right for 100 m, then turn left on the path that climbs towards Thérondels. Pass the Croix du Couderc and reach the center of the village on the right.
