Your itinerary
Step 1
From the village square, a beautiful esplanade (called Les Cognes, the granite fountain was built in the year 2000 by the municipality to mark the new millennium) take the D 900 towards Laguiole for 300 m. Turn left towards Soulages (traditional granite and basalt constructions with slate roofs). In the village of Soulages continue to the right by the road for 800 m.
Step 2
Reach an intersection, leave the road to take a wide path to the left for about 1,2 km. At the first crossroads continue to the right on a track for about 1km (be careful, do not follow the markings with the sheet on the left). (Beautiful views of Viadène and Aubrac during the climb).
Step 3
Turn right on a grassy path down to the Selvet water treatment plant. At the road, continue straight. Leave the Venzac farm on the right. 200m after the fork turn right onto a logging road joining la Bancalerie. Follow this path for about 1,5 km.
Step 4
Attention: turn left on an old path lined with low walls, after crossing a fence (close well). At the crossroads, follow this path straight up to the D 900 for about 1,2 km.
Step 5
Turn right on the D 900 for 50 m then turn left and follow a dirt road descending towards the Selvet stream.
Step 6
At this intersection, turn left to discover the ferruginous fountain (source of ferruginous water exploited around 1847 and renovated since 1977), then continue straight. Cross the Selvet and go up towards the village of Cassuéjouls.
