A last crossing of the wooded part of the Aubrac plateau to reach Aumont Aubrac at the gates of Margeride

Description

From Terme the climb begins gently to reach Mont Alhérac then the Truc de l'Homme. The gaps between the woods open up perspectives sometimes on the Aubrac, sometimes on the Margeride or even the Cantal mountains. A stopover that is as intimate as it is open to large landscapes.

Your itinerary

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

Leave the town of Termes by the road to the south adjacent to the one taken for the previous stage. Continue on the logging path, always staying on the main path.

Step 2

At the second hairpin bend on the right, take it to go up to Truc de l'homme. Just before the wind turbines you can take a path on the left to reach the Truc de l'Homme observation tower.

Step 3

Continue on the crested gravel path to reach the hamlet of Salèles then the village of Fau-de-Peyre, cross the latter and turn right after the church and the fountain.

Step 4

Continue for 300m then take a path on the left which goes down to the Fau stream. Reach the hamlet of Vareilles, pass the last house by turning right then follow the Rimeize on the left without crossing. Cross the Rimeize once you arrive at Le Chambon and take the road for 200m.

Step 5

Leave the road for a path going up through the woods to reach the hamlet of Nozières. Cross the hamlet by the main road towards Chabanols. Just before the hamlet take a gravel path on the right.

Step 6

Once you have reached the paved municipal road, turn left towards Aumont Aubrac. After passing under the motorway, go up to the left towards a small tunnel under the railway line which then leads to the main square of Aumont-Aubrac.
