Description

This 16 km circuit goes down along the Hère valley to go up towards the Templar village of Recoules d'Aubrac. The path then rises over a basalt flow before crossing the Bois de la Barthe and joining Nasbinals via the Carbonnières road.

This hike can be done roaming between the three starting points of the Haut-plateau: Nasbinals / Aubrac / Saint-Urcize. Allow two to three days to cover the whole of Aubrac to the heart.

Your itinerary

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

From the old post office square, go up towards the church. Facing the entrance to the church, go down the stairs of rue du Poustel to the fountain.

Step 2

At the fountain, turn left onto rue Julien Gracq for 200m then turn right to go down the street which leads to the RD12 departmental road. Take the RD12 on the left and cross the Hère stream following the road for 200m.

Step 3

At an isolated house, take the first path on the left. This path leads to a path.

Step 4

Take the path opposite which goes back to the hamlet of Peyrebesse and joins the RD12. Cross the RD12 to take a path opposite that goes up through the pastures.

Step 5

At the cross, follow the tarred rural road to the left to the village of Recoules d'Aubrac.

Step 6

Enter the village, pass in front of the town hall, make a loop to the left in front of the bread oven to reach the church then go up in front of the bakery to come out at the entry point. On leaving the village take the path that goes up to the left towards the summer pastures. Follow this path straight up to the forest.

Step 7

Cross the tip of the wood. At the crow's feet, take the path on the left, which descends through the Barthe wood to the Bouchabès farm.

Step 8

At the farm, follow the tarmac path on the left for 1m until the second path on the right.

Step 9

Take this path which crosses the Cabre stream and goes up into the Burières wood.

Step 10

At the intersection, take the path on the left which crosses the Chambouliès stream. Follow this path to the next bridge where you find the tar. Continue to the second intersection.

Step 11

Follow this path, pass the Mas de Taly and join the campsite and the RD12 on the right.

Step 12

Cross the RD12 and take the path opposite which goes up towards the “Rosée du matin” hotel.

Step 13

Leave the hotel on the left and take the road that joins the village of Nasbinals.
