Description

Leave the lively village of Laguiole, for a hike of an interesting duration for good walkers, which combine very beautiful viewpoints, and an interesting architectural heritage, crossing hamlets and farms with the typical architecture of the Aubrac plateau. . If you climb at the start of the hike, you will descend towards the village of Laguiole via the Pigasse bridge, a famous basalt organ bridge which once carried a Roman road.

Getting to the starting pointto report a problem

Step 1

Departure from Place du Taureau. Follow Allée de l'Amicale and continue along Rue de la Violette. Opposite the car wash, turn right and immediately left below the supermarket (Tour des Monts d'Aubrac).

Step 2

Cross the Nuech stream on a small bridge, pass the Rataboul quarry. 200 m later, leave the GR de Pays “Tour des Monts d'Aubrac” and turn left on a wide path towards Rocagel (yellow and red markings). Continue on the road towards Séguis (yellow markings), house with square turret, pass Barrière, cross the Selves stream on a small bridge to reach the hamlet of Montmaton (former seigneury, the current building dates from the 1770th century), reach the church (Romanesque church with a curious sculpture from XNUMX).

Step 3

At the crossroads, take the road opposite (direction "north/west"). Continue on the path for 800 m, reach the crossing, leave a path on the right to use the Canadian passage on the left.

Step 4

Cross the pasture to return to the D 921. During the hike, you can see herds of Aubrac cattle.

Step 5

Take the D 921 to the left for 350 m (be careful), then cross the D 921. Turn right and follow the path for 100 m, cross a small road, continue opposite on a path for 400 m and take the path on left, then turn right to descend to Les Clauzades.

Step 6

At the intersection, turn left, join the D 900, follow it to the right for 800m, at the crossroads facing the virgin turn left towards the Château de la Boissonnade.

Step 7

Cross the Auriac stream, then the wood, continue on the same path towards Beauregard.

Step 8

At the intersection, take the paved road opposite for 50 m, then turn left down the Roman road, turn right to cross the Pigasse bridge, turn right and reach Laguiole via the rue du Pont Romain then the rue du Valat.
