Presentation

"Aubrac Terre d'Evasion" photo exhibition by Francis Roufiac at the Maison de l'Aubrac

As part of its cultural program, the Maison de l'Aubrac invites you to discover the works of Francis Roufiac alias Loz'Aubrac.

Native of the foothills of the Aubrac plateau, since my first memories, these places filled with authenticity are part of my story. My passion for photography and my professional activity allowed me to cross these high plateaus, in all seasons. My wonder remains intact today at the bend of a path, a summer pasture or a mountain, delivering a landscape constantly differing according to the lights.

During this exhibition, I offer you an immersion in an environment in the middle of nature, in complete freedom: Aubrac: Journey to a land of escape.

I have been traveling this authentic land for more than fifty years. Its high plateaus rise to more than 1200 m in altitude. They are full of natural treasures, basaltic waterfalls, glacial lakes, crosses, villages of character... Through mountain pastures, from Puech en Puech you will discover its isolated burons and its famous bulls and cows with almond eyes. In all seasons Aubrac reveals its jewels.

In winter, covered with snow, endless panoramas, the magic takes place and reveals landscapes of Scandinavian beauty. Its thick fog to be cut with the famous Laguiole knife will reveal its granite rocks and millenary drailles.

In spring, discover the plateau of 1001 colours. Narcissus, Daffodils, Gentians, orchids or even pulsating anemones, nearly 2000 species make up a unique floral bouquet with varied scents and shapes.

In summer its summer pastures come alive, in the middle stand the burons, witnesses of the human presence, the Aubrac cows, take possession of the mountains.

In autumn, the high plateaus take on the appearance of little Mongolia, the colors illuminate the boraldes while the morning mists will enchant you with its atmosphere and silence.

Through clichés, come and soak up the lights and contrasts of Aubrac.
