Canyoning is like a aquatic and sports hiking. Another way to discover nature and to apprehend its reliefs. Our outdoor service providers will be able to guide you or accompany you on specially designed trails.

The gorges present on the territory are formed by the curves created by the lava flows of the Cantal volcanoes. Ideal for the practice of canyoning, the rivers descend towards the Lot valley and thus form waterfalls. La Truyère notably dug its bed in granite massifs creating gorges.

what is canyoning?

It is a progression following the course of a stream and its reliefs, sometimes steep forming waterfalls and natural pools. Using ropes, this activity combines swimming, climbing and walking in an exceptional setting. Specific equipment containing a special canyoning harness, waterproof suit, shoes adapted to the aquatic environment, helmet, ropes and carabiners, is essential to practice this activity in complete safety.

Our canyoning sites

Three canyoning sites are set up on the territory:

  • In the municipality ofArgences-en-Aubrac close to the village of Mels (fun half-day course)
  • In the town of Bromat (fairly sporty course for the day).
  • Waves, in the town of Saint-Symphorien-de-Thenieres (suitable for an informed public, for the day).
